Four Decades of Energy Development Success | Murphy International
A Proven Legacy of Performance
For more than four decades, Murphy International has established a successful technical and financial track record in sustainable and renewable energy consulting and development. Our experience spans complex project environments requiring disciplined execution, innovative problem solving, and rapid delivery under demanding conditions.
Murphy International has managed challenging project requirements including fast-track power generation equipment supply, equity and structured finance, site development, environmental remediation, and long-term environmental stewardship. This combination of technical capability and financial expertise has defined our role as a trusted partner in energy development.

Evolution of a Diversified Energy Platform
Murphy International’s success has been built through continuous evolution and expansion of capabilities. Originally acting as a manufacturers’ representative, our early work included tax and leveraged lease financing, asset remarketing, and debt and equity structuring.
Over time, Murphy International expanded into operations management for power generation projects, environmental remediation, recycling ventures, and ultimately direct investment in sustainable energy technologies. This evolution has resulted in a diversified portfolio of successful projects across renewable and conventional energy sectors.
Timeline of Experience and Growth
1975–1984 | Nuclear & Environmental Foundations
Murphy International’s early work focused on nuclear construction and fuel cycle management, supporting major U.S. government agencies, utilities, and international partners. Projects during this period included work for the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, and multiple regulated utilities.
This phase also included extensive experience in nuclear decontamination, waste management, and environmental remediation, establishing a strong technical and regulatory foundation that continues to influence Murphy International’s disciplined approach to complex energy projects.
1985–1994 | Cogeneration, PURPA & Financial Structuring
During this period, Murphy International expanded into cogeneration and Independent Power Producer (IPP) development under the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA). Work included cogeneration facilities, industrial energy retrofits, and OEM representation for power equipment suppliers.
The company also developed expertise in lease finance structures, debt and equity arrangements, and power project financing. Notable efforts included industrial power projects, international manufacturing representation, and remediation initiatives such as Superfund cleanups, further diversifying technical and financial capabilities.
1995–2004 | Power Equipment, QA & Specialty Systems
Murphy International entered a period of growth focused on power equipment sales, specialty machine components, and advanced power systems. This era included work involving gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery systems, plasma systems, and surplus power equipment remarketing.
Projects during this time included involvement with W251B12 gas turbines, Pratt & Whitney FT4 units, GE Frame 7EA and 7FA turbines, HRSG systems, and specialty machine parts. This phase reinforced Murphy International’s expertise in fast-track power delivery and complex equipment integration.
2005–2014 | Renewable Scale & Hybrid Development
This decade marked Murphy International’s significant expansion into utility-scale renewable energy and hybrid power systems. Key projects included geothermal development and repowering at Stillwater (4–30 MW), large-scale wind projects such as Zephyr Wind (up to 1,000 MW in Texas and 450 MW in Oregon), and wind turbine manufacturing initiatives.
The company also participated in landmark hybrid and architectural energy projects, including the world’s first wind-powered skyscraper, the Bahrain World Trade Center. Additional work included combined-cycle gas turbine developments, hybrid wind systems, and international project development partnerships.
2015–2019 | Divestment, Island Energy & Microgrids
Murphy International transitioned from asset ownership to strategic divestment in projects such as Ridgeline, Norwin, and Stillwater, while expanding into island energy systems and distributed generation.
Projects during this period included renewable energy deployment for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Caribbean Basin renewable and energy efficiency programs supported by the Inter-American Development Bank, and large-scale resort energy solutions. The company also advanced microgrid combined cooling, heating, and power systems, packaged biomass solutions, and Organic Rankine Cycle technologies.
2020–2030 | Next-Generation Energy & Sustainability Focus
Murphy International’s current and forward-looking focus includes advanced microgrids, combined cooling, heating, and power systems, zero-emissions technologies, and clean water solutions. Development efforts also extend into smart agriculture, hydroponics, permaculture systems, carbon-neutral technologies, plastics-to-fuel solutions, and recycled alternative fuels.
This phase reflects Murphy International’s continued commitment to innovation, resilience, and environmentally responsible energy development aligned with future regulatory, economic, and climate objectives.
