Energy Project Financing & Investment Strategy | Murphy International

Murphy International delivers comprehensive financial solutions that are fully integrated into the development and execution of energy infrastructure projects. Our approach combines capital access, transactional expertise, and deep industry knowledge to support projects from early-stage development through long-term operation.

We do not view financing as a separate function from project delivery. Instead, financial structuring is embedded into every phase of our work—ensuring that projects are not only technically sound, but also economically viable, properly capitalized, and positioned for long-term success.

GreenWell Renewable Power Corporation

Murphy International Development has served as an investor and technical advisor to GreenWell Renewable Power Corporation. GreenWell advances the development of geo-pressured and geothermal energy resources, including systems that harness thermal energy, hydraulic energy, and chemical energy to produce electricity on a baseload basis.

The ability to deploy multiple energy recovery technologies simultaneously provides a strong technical advantage for renewable baseload generation. Murphy International Development’s involvement reflects its commitment to innovative geothermal and geo-pressured energy technologies that can support reliable, long-term renewable power production.

General Compression, Inc.

Murphy International Development was an investor in General Compression, Inc., a company developing advanced compressed air energy storage technologies. General Compression’s near-isothermal compressor and expander modules were designed to support energy storage projects ranging from 2 MW to 1,000 MW, with discharge durations ranging from 8 to 300 hours.

Advanced energy storage technologies such as these enable renewable generators to deliver power according to customer demand curves and grid requirements. General Compression’s technology was supported by funding from major energy and investment partners, including US Renewables Group, Duke Energy, and Northwater Intellectual Property Fund, with additional support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E GRIDS program.

Murphy International Development’s investment reflected its focus on technologies that improve renewable energy dispatchability, grid reliability, and long-duration energy storage capability.

Zephyr Power Development, LLC

Murphy International Development co-founded Zephyr Power Development, LLC, which held leases in Washington, Oregon, and Texas and participated in joint development equity partnerships with RWE / Innogy and Shell Renewables.

Zephyr Power Development originated and helped develop opportunities including the 25,000-acre Biglow Canyon Wind Farm in Sherman County, Oregon for Portland General Electric. Biglow Canyon Phase 1 was completed in 2007 with 76 Vestas turbines and an installed capacity of 125 MW. Phase 2 was completed in 2009 using Siemens 2.3 MW turbines, increasing total capacity to 275 MW. Phase 3 completed the project with a combined total capacity of 450 MW.
